I rarely use “I love you” because I feel a little embarrassed. I think I can feel affection without the word among family, boyfriends, and friends.
For example, when I went to Australia, my mother sent mail and called to me. She worried about me and supported. She didn’t say “I love you”, but I can fully feel her love.

I say "i love you" to my friends, family, and boyfriend. i think in the American culture, it is completely acceptable and seen as a positive thing to let the ones you love, know how you feel. I see how the Japanese culture differs from this because my grandmother is Japanese and rarely ever says "I love you" to me but I don't need to hear it because I understand her differences and focus on the other ways she expresses her love for me.
